Description

Community Candle Lighting In partnership with Friedman JCC, Temple B’nai B’rith, Temple Israel, and the Midrasha Hebrew school, our community will come together once again at the Friedman JCC to light candles. Clergy from Temple Israel and Temple B’nai B’rith will lead holiday singing.

Everyone will receive a Krispy Kreme donut and a special Hot Chocolate Bomb. Running of the Torch - Mayrutz Halapi Run with the torches will begin at River Common Portal, South River Street and Northampton in Wilkes-Barre and continue to the Friedman JCC, 613 S.J. Strauss Lane in Kingston

The JCC has sponsored the Mayrutz Halapid Ceremony, the Running of the Torch, for several decades. Each year we continue a long-standing tradition, which originated in Israel in 1940 when young men would run to distant cities of the country to light public menorahs. We hope that our tradition will light the way for many generations in the future. Contact Kevin at 570-824-4646 ext. 215 or athdir@nepaja.org ο»Ώwith questions or to sign up.
