Why, as moms, are we always behind the camera and never in front of it?
Is it because we are more sensitive to capturing the sweet moments? Self conscious? Too busy to stop and pose? Whatever it is, let’s end it.
I have been eyeing some Mommy and Me photo shoots around the area, but never booked, for all the reasons that I kept repeating in my head. I saw a beautiful set up at Chippy White Table in Tunkhannock on Gabrielle Meyer Bravyak Photography Facebook Page so I contacted her for a shoot!
I’m going to be honest - at first I was nervous. Just me and the girls in the photos? What will I wear? I have a few extra pounds I’ve been meaning to get rid of, and I just don’t love the way I look. BUT - I had been noticing how few photos I was in, so I decided to go ahead and do it.
I tried on countless outfits, washed my hair, put on some makeup, and (gasp!) changed out of my leggings (which have been my uniform for the last year). We headed out to Chippy White Table for our photo shoot. It was such a gorgeous place and the setting was perfect. I immediately felt comfortable with Gabrielle and so did my girls, any uncertainty I had about being in front of the camera subsided.
Gabi took a few posed photos of us and then asked us to just have fun! The girls loved hanging all over me (as usual), whispering secrets in my ear and we even had a little dance. The girls and I were truly enjoying the time together, we held hands, we giggled, we told silly stories and before we knew it the shoot was done! I was no longer worrying about my dark age spots or my squishy belly. Instead, I was filled with gratitude for Gabi and her ability to capture these fleeting moments of us together.
My advice to you? Get the pictures. Message that photographer. Book the session. Don’t wait for 5 less pounds, or free time, or a tan. Do it now. These are the moments. Now.

Details: These limited edition mini sessions @ Hillside Farms will have floral arrangements by Mattern's Floral and Furnishings and set up inside the greenhouse by talented local designer Chloë Valentina Nawrocki. This will be a 20 Minute Mini session, with 15 professionally edited digital images for download, with additional images available for purchase.
