Toys for Teens was started in 2017 because other agencies have an age limit of 12. When a family is struggling everyone in the family feels the impact. Sometimes the teens take on added responsibilities which may cause them to feel the stresses even more.
In 2017, Toys for Teens was started with only 5 weeks until Christmas. At the time the goal was to provide gifts for 10 teens. Within that 5 weeks, we were able to collect enough gifts for 33 teens. Each teen was given 3-4 gifts. We were also able to surprise a single mom of 3 who had 2 teens. We provided gifts to the three children and a little gift for the mom. In 2018, Toys for Teens was able to provide gifts to over 100 teens. The need this year is already over 400 families.
We will start collecting gifts for teens in October to be able to provide a bit of Christmas magic to teens in Luzerne County. We collect gifts at our drop off locations as well as personal and group meets. Our drop off locations will be listed the second week of October. Our drop off boxes are wrapped in wrapping paper and will display our logo and a short letter.

When you think of buying a gift for a teen you tend to think it has to be big or expensive. Gifts can be as simple as a bath set or adult coloring books. Games from Five Below were a great gift last year. The need is out there and the families are very thankful and appreciative.
