Winter is in full swing in the Wilkes-Barre area and there is snow in the forecast! We've all had fun building a snowman, making snow angels, sledding, and having snowball fights. But here are 10 more ideas that you can do in the snow to keep your children entertained.

1.  Play Freeze Tag - They've played it before, but doesn't it just make sense to play in the snow?  Once someone is tagged by the person that is "it", they have to remain frozen until another player tags them.

2.  Make a Snow Slide - Pile the snow up high, sit on the top, and then slide down.  The more you go down, the more compact the snow will get creating an awesome slippery slide.

3.  Snow Painting - Remember all those spray bottles you've been saving up for the right occasion?  This is it.  Fill them up with water and add some food coloring.  Send the kids outside to paint that white canvas all different colors.  You can even make flowers lining your sidewalk when you are tired of snow and aching for spring to get here!

4.  Build a Fort - Grab your cake pans, Play-doh molds, and sand castle buckets and make a one of a kind fort or castle.  Add some color using step 3 above.

5.  Catch and View Snowflakes - Freeze a dark piece of paper and lay it on the ground while it's snowing.  Then use a magnifying glass to compare the snowflakes.  No two are exactly alike!

6.  Footprint Tag - Play tag stepping only in each others footprints.

7.  Ice Cube Scavenger Hunt - Use food coloring when freezing ice cubes and then hide them in the snow in a designated area.  Then let the kids find them.

8.  Ice Marbles - Fill water balloons with water and food coloring and put them outside to freeze.  The more food coloring you use, the darker marble you'll get.  Once frozen (approximately 48 hours), remove the balloons.

9. Ice Bubbles - When the temperature is at or below freezing (32 degrees), get out your bubbles!  Blow bubbles and be amazed as they freeze on the wand!!

10.  Make Snow Ice Cream
-  You'll need 1 cup of milk,  1/2 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract,  and about 8 cups of clean snow.  Directions - Mix together well. Add toppings as desired.  Serve immediately and enjoy!

Be sure to bundle up when playing out in the cold temperatures.  Wear snow pants, a waterproof coat, gloves, hat, scarf, boots, and even a face mask. Don't stay out too long.  Come in periodically to have some hot chocolate and warm up.  Most of all have fun!
